Patchwork Quilt

There is a lot of debate on what exactly a patchwork quilt is. Some people will tell you that patchwork means that the quilt follows a certain type of pattern. Others say that a quilt is “patchwork” if it incorporates a lot of different types of material. There may not be a clear definition to this term.

Yet other people consider any quilt that has been stitched together from small pieces to be “patchwork.” So when you are talking about quilts, or looking for quilt patterns, keep in mind that your idea of a patchwork quilt may not match someone else’s.

You may have your own idea of what a patchwork quilt is, but it is a good idea to look them up and see what other people think they are. This can help you to cut down on some confusion when you are talking to other quilters. Finding out what other people consider to be patchwork might also give you some great ideas for your next quilt.
